Meet Gamayun Theatre!

Hello everyone, we are Gamayun theatre and we are excited to be introducing ourselves today. And the best way to do so, we feel, is to tell you what we love!

We love fairy tales and folklore, we love art, the kind that touches the deepest part of your soul and elates or devastates you without ever having to explain itself, we love stories that make you think about yourself and about the world, the ones that seem to be both eternal and incredibly new and most of all we love and worship theatre.

In fact, we love it so deeply that we passionately study all the existing theatre traditions in the modern world, from Stanislavsky to Kabuki and we are not afraid to blend and mix them. Of course, our expertise is in the Eastern European traditions such as Stanislavsky, Chekhov and Les Kurbas, however, it is not the style or form that matters most to us, but the story itself.

We are just starting our journey as a theatre company, but we aim to create many different theatre pieces, some unknown to British culture, others popular, new or old writing. But all of them will be about what’s most important in the world today: the deepest most honest nature of the human character, the humans’ role in the world, an individual’s role in society.

We want neither to lecture, nor to preach, only to engage our audiences in a discussion, so any and all (respectfully articulated) comments on our website or social media, as well as suggestions for future work are very welcome. Come and say hi to us!
